The name Biscotte comes from its founder, Jean Zwygart. As he was a young man originally from Bern, he cried out on his way to school «Bis Gott, bis Got… », after which he was named « Biscotte » by his French-speaking companions.
Jean Zwygart, from then on « Mr. Biscotte », implemented his vision and became the pioneer of the introduction of fine beans and fresh Cipollote onions in western Switzerland, on the region « La Côte ». After more than 40 years of experience and expertise in the field of agriculture and local productionmanagement, Biscotte family business is one of the largest producers of fresh cipollote onions and beans of Switzerland.
Passed on to Jean Zwygart’s son Laurent in 2004, Biscotte currently employs 50 people and collaborates with all Swiss national distributors, especially the French-speaking ones with whom the proximity and traceability are very important factors.
